I am interested in how "Inclusion" will work. I had a child with a learning disability several years ago and the prevailing thought then was to separate those like him/her in order to insure they got the attention they needed. Didn't work. We found that to work with him/her within the same environment as the other "normal" kids, but with a lesson plan geared to his/her needs worked best. A type of inclusion before "inclusion" became a buz word. I am very much interested and will be monitoring this site for progress reports on the classes you've set up.
I am an advocate for inclusion. However, it can be difficult when most of the class contain ESE/ESOL students. This makes it difficult for ONE teacher to be effective in a class of 25 or more students. It is sad to say, but today most classrooms are having a tsunami of drug addictive babies (students). This is a problem we as educators are faced with.
We've been doing inclusion math for about four years now. This year we have inclusion language arts classes as well. When done properly,it is very beneficial for learning disabled students and most EBD depending on how severe.
